Cancer is a life-changing diagnosis. When confronted with this diagnosis, fear of the unknown can take over for the patient, family and friends. This can result in excessive stress, a sense of helplessness and loss of control over their life. Hypnotherapy is a powerful tool for creating new, effective coping mechanisms to manage these stresses, returning a sense of control.
Cynde Gardner, CEO of Bright Paths is certified in Complementary Medical Hypnotism and as a Stress Reduction Facilitator.
The Mayo Clinic states: “Hypnotherapy can be an effective method for coping with stress and anxiety. In particular, hypnosis can reduce stress and anxiety before a medical procedure, such as a breast biopsy.”
The American Cancer Society states: “Hypnosis is sometimes used to help relieve pain caused by cancer. Many reports demonstrate that hypnosis can help patients reduce blood pressure, stress, anxiety, and pain.”
Bright Paths offers cancer support groups for those diagnosed with cancer and for friends and family whose life has been impacted by someone with cancer.
Hypnosis has been studied for other conditions, including:
Pain control: Hypnosis may be beneficial for pain associated with cancer, irritable bowel syndrome, fibromyalgia, temporomandibular joint problems, dental procedures and headaches.
Hot flashes: Hypnosis may relieve symptoms of hot flashes associated with menopause.
Behavioral changes: Hypnosis has been used with some success in the treatment of insomnia, bed-wetting, smoking, obesity and phobias.”
At Bright Paths we provide individual sessions that teach you new coping techniques as well as pain management techniques through Hypnotism, Reiki and/or Healing Touch. We also teach self-hypnosis methods to help you minimize side effects of treatment and enhance the healing process.
